Couples Therapy
Service Description
Couples therapy is designed to strengthen the emotional bond, improve communication, and restore emotional connection through a structured and integrative approach. The work is based, among other models, on the Gottman Method, supported by decades of scientific research on relationship stability and satisfaction. This approach allows for a precise assessment of the couple's dynamics and work on key variables that predict the quality and durability of the relationship. The core elements of the process include: Identifying and transforming the "Four Horsemen" (criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and avoidance), replacing them with healthier communication patterns. Strengthening friendship and emotional intimacy, essential foundations for relationship stability. Regulating conflict by learning to differentiate between solvable conflicts and perpetual differences, and developing effective dialogue skills. Building shared meaning, common values, and aligned goals. Emotional repair and rebuilding trust, especially in cases of relationship wounds or breaches of security. In addition to the Gottman approach, tools from systemic therapy, self-restructuring, relational schema work, and emotion regulation techniques are integrated. This allows for an understanding not only of the current conflict but also of the patterns learned throughout the couple's individual histories that impact the relationship. The integrative approach means that each intervention is tailored to the stage the couple is in: acute crisis, progressive deterioration, difficulties with intimacy, conscious separation processes, or rebuilding after a breach of trust. The therapeutic process offers a neutral, structured, and safe space where both partners can express themselves without judgment, develop greater mutual understanding, and build a more conscious, solid, and emotionally secure relationship.
